The Director General of Police,heading the Directorate of civil rights enforcement,who was earlier accused of helping his daughter in a gold smuggling case,has once again been mired in controversy after a video allegedly showing him behaving inappropriately with a woman inside his office while in uniform surfaced on Monday.
A video allegedly showing K.Ramachandra Rao engaging in inappropriate behaviour inside his office has gone viral on social media,triggering widespread controversy.
The video reportedly shows Ramachandra Rao seated on an office chair while hugging and kissing a woman. Three separate clips have been stitched together and circulated online.
Ramachandra Rao had earlier been sent on compulsory leave in connection with the gold smuggling case involving actress Ranya Rao.
The state government had recently revoked the compulsory leave order and subsequently transferred him as DGP of the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE).Ranya Rao is Ramachandra Rao’s stepdaughter.
Following the viral video,Ramachandra Rao met Home Minister G.Parameshwara and briefed him about the issue.
Later,speaking to media persons,Ramachandra Rao clarified that the video was eight years old and was recorded when he was posted in Belagavi.He termed the incident as conspiracy to tarnish his image .
Meanwhile,Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in Belagavi addressing media he said|On the viral video of DGP K. Ramachandra Rao,”The matter came to light this morning. We will take disciplinary action against him. No matter how tall someone is, we will investigate and take action; no one is above the law he added.
