Stone Pelting on Om Shakthi Devotees during religious procession in JJ Nagar;case Registered

Tension prevailed in parts of JJ Nagar on Saturday night after alleged stone-pelting during a religious procession near VS Garden in the JJ R Nagar police station limits.

According to police and complainants,the incident occurred at around 8 pm when devotees wearing Om Shakthi Malas were pulling the deity’s chariot as part of a procession that began from the Om Shakthi temple.

The devotees alleged that stones were thrown at the procession from nearby areas,resulting in injuries to a minor girl who was part of the procession.

The injured child reportedly sustained a head injury and was shifted for medical attention.

Devotees alleged that unidentified miscreants pelted stones under the cover of darkness.

Following the incident,Om Shakthi Mala Dharis staged a protest in front of the JJ R Nagar police station, demanding immediate action against those responsible.

Protesters insisted that they would disperse only after an FIR was registered and a copy was provided to them.

Police officials stated that an FIR has been registered based on the complaint lodged by the devotees and that an investigation is underway.

Additional police forces were deployed in and around the police station and the incident spot,barricades were erected,and security was tightened to prevent any escalation.

West Division Deputy Commissioner of Police,Yatish N visited the JJ R Nagar police station and reviewed the situation and pacified the protestors and brought situation under control and said we are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved.

Authorities have appealed to the public to maintain peace and assured strict action against anyone found guilty.
