A city-based businessman was injured after an unidentified person allegedly opened fire at him with an air gun near Krishna Rao Park in Basavanagudi on Tuesday night.
The victim,Rajagopal,owner of Narthaki and Kargil Bar, sustained a neck injury in the incident which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on December 10.He was immediately shifted to Bengaluru Hospital in Jayanagar for treatment.
Basavanagudi police,who visited the spot and recorded Rajagopal’s statement,said he has not expressed suspicion against anyone.He also claimed he had not received any threat calls in the recent past.
Police said the motive behind the firing remains unclear.
“Why the attack happened and who fired at him is not yet known,”a senior officer said.
Although the complainant mentioned that the shot was fired from an air gun,police said they are verifying whether the weapon used was indeed an air gun.
The FIR was registered on Wednesday,a day after the incident.A search is on to trace the shooter based on preliminary information provided by the complainant. Investigation is underway.
