The Karnataka government has issued an order reassigning Madanayakanahalli and Rajanakunte police stations from the Bengaluru Rural jurisdiction to the Bengaluru City Police limits.
According to the proposal submitted by the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP), both police station jurisdictions already fall under the Bengaluru Urban revenue district and have witnessed rapid urbanisation, with population and development levels on par with Bengaluru City.
The proposal highlights a surge in criminal cases and traffic congestion in these areas, necessitating closer policing under the city unit.
Acting on the recommendation, the government has approved the exclusion of both stations from Nelamangala and Doddaballapura sub-divisions of Bengaluru district.
They will now function under the North West Division of Bengaluru City Police,Peenya Sub-Division.
The order partially modifies previous notifications and directs authorities to issue necessary follow-up actions.
