Bengaluru Cyber Command Unit Busts Major Tech-Support Scam Targeting US Citizens

The Cyber Command Unit,Karnataka,has busted a large-scale fraudulent software company that was cheating citizens in the United States by impersonating Microsoft technical support staff.

The operation was led by the Special Cell of the Cyber Command in coordination with the Cyber Crime Police Station, Whitefield Division.

Officials registered a case under Sections 66 and 66(C) of the IT Act, 2000,and Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after receiving credible information.

Following a search warrant issued by the court,a raid was conducted on November 14 and 15 at a commercial premises in Whitefield.

They raided company,Musk Communications,was operating from the 6th floor of Delta Building,Sigma Soft Tech Park,Whitefield Main Road, near Varthur Kodi.

The firm occupied around 4,500 sq.ft.and had begun operations in August 2025.

A team led by Mrs.Savitha Srinivas,IPS,SP of the Special Cyber Cell,along with officers from the Cyber Crime Police Station,CCD,and CCU,carried out the operation with support from cyber-security analysts and neighbouring cyber police stations.

The crackdown was conducted under the guidance of Dr.Pronab Mohanty, IPS,Director General of Police,Cyber Command Unit.

During the raid,21 employees involved in posing as Microsoft support technicians and cheating foreign nationals were arrested.

A detailed search continued into the early hours of November 15,leading to the seizure of digital evidence, mobile phones,computers,and other equipment used for the scam.

Police said efforts are underway to trace absconding suspects and analyse confiscated digital material.The arrested individuals will be produced before the jurisdictional court.

The Cyber Command Unit stated that it remains committed to combating cyber fraud and protecting citizens from online crimes.
