S higgaon is primarily an agriculture-based taluk and farmers of this taluk are very honest. It was late Hanumanthagoudar who had shown how to do agriculture and what crops must be grown to make profit, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking after inaugurating Hanumanthagoudar Patil Kalyan Bhavan and Patil Comforts here on Sunday,he said late Hanumanthagouda Patil belonged to a most respected family of Shiggaon and the people of entire taluk were treating them with respect.

In memory of Dr Hanumanthagoudar and Late Shankargoudar,Siddanath Patil has built a big Kalyana Mantap.

It is common to see the attendance register in schools and factories but late Hanumanthagoudar had maintained the attendance register for agriculture and maintained it for almost 50 years.

In the book he would mention about the use of fertiliser, seeds and taking care of bullocks.Former CM,S.R.Bommai had a lot of love and affection for him.Their family has always been known for helping people.

Said no to elections

Bommai said late Hanumanthagouda and late Shankargouda had cared a lot for the development of Shiggaon Taluk and Hanumanthagoudar refused to enter politics and contest in 1978 elections in spite of pressure from local people.

His son,Shankargouda contested in the election and lost, and he never returned to politics. In a land dispute, he was not happy with the performance of the advocate.

So, he did law, obtained a degree, argued that case and won it. “I am always indebted to Shankargouda Patil family and I cannot forget the love, affection and guidance shown by him.

He guided for the overall development of taluk without any expectation.Patil should have lived for some more years. We have become poor after losing him”.

Sri Sangameshwara Swamiji of Viraktha Mutt,Shiggaon, late Shankargouda Patil’s wife, Susheelamma Patil, former MP Vijay Sankeshwar, Shivangouda Patil and others were present.
