A 36-year-old sales executive working with a telecom company was allegedly beaten to death by his wife and her family members over a domestic dispute in Kadugondanahalli on Tuesday .
The deceased,Mohammed Shakeel,a resident of AMC Road in KG Halli,had been married to Raziya Sultan for 12 years.
The couple,who have two sons,were reportedly facing marital discord and had filed for divorce,which was pending before a family court.
According to police,around 4.30 pm on Saturday, Shakeel and his father Mohammed Samiuddin visited Raziya’s brother’s flat in an apartment behind Bilal Mosque to discuss a divorce settlement.
During the meeting,Samiuddin is said to have urged Raziya’s family to finalise the settlement so that Shakeel could move on with his life.
The discussion allegedly turned violent after Raziya’s family members got enraged.Her brothers reportedly attacked Shakeel,hitting him with helmets even after he collapsed.
Shakeel succumbed to severe head injuries on the spot. Samiuddin later approached the KG Halli police and lodged a complaint.
A case of murder has been registered against Zabiulla Khan,Imran Khan,Raziya Sultan,Fayaz Khan,and Mubeena Taj .
Police have arrested Zabiulla,Imran,and Fayaz, while efforts are on to trace Raziya and Mubeena,a senior police officer said.
