Apart from their regular law and order duties,City Hoysala patrolling team going went beyond their mandate to rescue and reunite a 78-year-old woman who had lost her way home and wondering on the streets of Begur for many hours .
Assistant Sub Inspector,Satish Kumar and his team mate and driver Shabbir M,based on the alert reached A tailor shop and found Basamma,sitting in the shop worrying about her family.
Basamma,a native of Vijayapura had come with her 82-year-old husband to visit her son,Chandrashekhar Hiremath,a software engineer working in an IT firm in the city.
Basamma was not familiar with the city,went to the near by park after breakfast for walk and lost her way to Lakshmi Layout in Begur Industrial area .
She walked two meters away in search of the house and reached a tailor shop.The owner of the shop offered her food and water before alerting the police .
By then it was around 9 pm and Basamma did not remember the address nor the phone number.The police convinced Basamma to help her reach home and drove around the area for over an hour checking with the people if they knew anything about the missing woman.
Since,Shabbir was also from Vijayapura and spoke the same dialect,Basamma gained some confidence shedding her fear and apprehension .
After contacting many residents,Satish Kumar managed to reach the apartment in new Mico layout,Hongasandra where the entire apartment residents and Hiremath families were searching for her .
It was a joyous reunion as Mr.Hiremath thanked the police stating that the family did not have food since afternoon and searched everywhere shared details in the whatsapp group and checked CCTV footage.
The family out of desperation even checked well,lakes and Rajakaluve anticipating some eventuality .
Mr.Hiremath also promised the police that he would get a GPS enabled Bangle for his mother to ensure her safety and so that he can track her down in case of any eventuality.
“We are happy that Basamma reunited her family and we have done our duty “Satish Kumar,said reminding people to call control room and report any incidents without fail .
