A 35-year-old under trial accused in a POCSO case ended his life by jumping from the fifth floor of the City Civil Court building in the city on Thursday.
The deceased Gautham M was escorted to the court from Parappana Agrahara jail along with four other accused for a court hearing.
Gowtham who returned from washroom was handcuffs again minutes before he jumped from the court building, while his family members,police,advocates and people who attending shocked.He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
A resident of KR Puram,Gautham,was arrested by the Adugodi police on April 21 this year and had been in judicial custody at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.
On Thursday,Gautam,along with another suspect,was brought to the city civil court complex for a hearing.He was among the four accused involved in different cases brought to the court for hearing .
According to the officials,Ideally,the security personnel handcuff two accused with a long chain.Gautham,went to the washroom and came back to be handcuffed again.
Police suspect that it was a pre plan as the hand was wet and he suddenly jumped from the fifth floor and got out of the handcuff due to sudden thrust,and crashed on the ground floor,killing on the spot .
Due to the impact the other accused sustained fracture injuries on his hand.Gautham was rushed to Victoria Hospital,where he succumbed to his injuries.
Rajasthan,Gautam ran an electrical shop in Chickpet and lived with his wife at A Narayanapura in KR Puram.His family members,who were present in the court,were left stunned by the incident.
He was booked for sexually assaulting his relative which he used to deny.However the DNA test report on him, confirmed his role,which led him to take the extreme step,out of embarrassment and humiliation.
The Halasurgate police have registered a case of attempt to escape from the custody against him for further investigations.
