A couple found dead due under mysterious circumstances after a fire broke out at the room of a lodge situated on the third floor of the commercial complex in Yelahanka on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Kaveri aged around 25 and her male friend identified as Ramesh,25.
They were native of Honnegudda of Gadag and working in a private firm. According to the police while Kaveri was working in a spa,Ramesh was working in a private firm.
The duo checked into the lodge at around 3 pm hours before the fire broke out from inside the room.Kaveri called the room service informed about the fire .
The staff alerted the fire and emergency control room and tried to break open the door which was locked from inside.
However after struggling for few minutes,they broke open the door and found the girl lying unconscious in a wash room while Ramesh was charred to death .
She was rushed to a near-by hospital where doctors declared her as brought dead.
The Yelahanka new town police have registered a case of suspicious death and awaiting post mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
DCP,Northeast,Sajeeth V.J,said that there were six rooms belonging to the lodge and no occupants were there except the couple.
Though the fire spread to the other rooms, no one was injured.He said that the reason for the fire is being probed further by the SOCO and FSL team.The families of the deceased have been alerted and further investigations are on.
