A financial dispute allegedly drove a man to murder his close friend with a machete and dump his body in a canal in Surakod village of Naragund taluk,Gadag district.
The deceased has been identified as Dyamappa Gojanur, 62,while the accused is Sharanappa of Naragund.
The murder reportedly came to light during the police investigation into Dyamappa’s disappearance.
According to the investigation,Dyamappa was involved in a business of purchasing crops from farmers.In this connection,45 quintals of pulses had been stored in Sharanappa’s name.
However,Sharanappa allegedly sold the pulses without Dyamappa’s knowledge and used the proceeds for his personal expenses.
Fearing that Dyamappa would discover the alleged misappropriation and expose him,Sharanappa is suspected of plotting to eliminate his friend.
