The Whitefield police have registered an FIR against unidentified people who posing as representatives of e-commerce platform cheating gullible people offering jobs and taken huge sum of money from the candidates.
Based on the complaint,by Murthy SN,representing Meesho,online e commerce company,the Whitefield Division cyber crime police have charged the accused under cheating by impersonation under IT act and BNS on Wednesday for further investigation.
According to the complaint,the company-Meesho, registered in 2013 having its office in Kadubeesanahalli Village,Varthur Hobli,Outer Ring Road,Marathahalli, engaged in providing an e-commerce platform and mobile-based application wherein registered suppliers can offer their products for sale to end-customers as well as facilitating logistics services for sellers to undertake delivery of products to end-customers.
The company recently came to known that some unidentified people impersonating themselves as Meesho recruiters (including third party agents and full-time employees of Meesho) conducting fake interviews under the guise of official Meesho recruiters for various roles .
The accused have also issued fake offer letters on Meesho’s letterhead and have misused Meesho’s logo.
The Accused are asking the“selected”candidates to pay certain amounts for company sponsored course,with the promise of reimbursement post joining.
The accused perpetrated a fraud by registering deceptive domain names designed to mimic‘Meesho’,to communicate from these domains to dupe gullible people and collect payments.
The police are trying to track down the accused based on the IP address of the sites and the money transactions.
