The probe carried out soon after the video of a rowdy-sheeter celebrating his birthday at the central prison went viral on social media,indicted seven prison officials,charging them under dereliction of duty.
The probe conducted by KC Dibyashri,Deputy Inspector General of Prisons found that the birthday party was celebrated on September 5,at cell No.7 of the 6th barrack,where rowdy-sheeter Srinivas alias Gubbacchi Seena found cutting cakes with a knife with apple garland,amidst cheers and whistling of his associates in the afternoon.
The entire act was recorded on mobile phone,uploaded on social media,which went viral.
This amounts to sheer negligence and dereliction of duty on part of the prison officials in-charge,hence recommended for disciplinary action and suspension.
Basen on the report,the officials wrote to the department officials to suspend head warder and his assistant, assistant superintendent,two Jailors and two assistant jailers who were in-charge of the security of the prison.
Based on the report a complaint has also been filed with the jurisdictional Parappana Agrahara police seeking detailed probe on how the accused used the phones inside the prison and its source,since when it is being used,despite 5G high tech jammers in place,regular checks .
