The Rajajinagar police on Monday arrested a 33-year-old director-producer of a Kannda movie for sexually harassing heroine of his movie for the last three years.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim,on September 19,the police arrested Hemanth Kumar,resident of Annapoorneshwari Nagar charging him under section 354 (assault or using criminal force on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty),504 (Intentional Insult with Intent to Provoke Breach of Peace),506 (Criminal intimidation),509 (insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC and also under section 66E (capturing,publishing, or transmitting an image of a person’s private area without consent under circumstances violating privacy)and 67 ( publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act for further investigation.
The accused was arrested on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody.
The victim in her complaint said that she was a TV artiste for many years and approached by the accused offering lead role in his upcoming move.
He offered two lakh rupees remuneration and paid part of it towards advance in April 2022 .
He started harassing the victim forcing her to dress indecently during the shooting and even touched her inappropriately many times.
The victims resisted and warned him for which the accused postponed the shooting indefinitely .
The accused in September 2023,forced her to accompany to Mumbai for the promotion of his movie and forced her to consume alcohol spiked with sedative and recorded videos of her .
Using the videos,the accused started blackmailing her seeking sexual favours.The victim when objected the accused threatened to upload the videos on social media.
The victim approached the court and got a stay for which the accused set goons to stalk her and even called her and her mother threatening them dire consequences.
Unable to bear the harassment the victim approached the police and filed a complaint.
