19 electric two-wheelers burnt after fire breaks out in commercial building

As many as 19 electric vehicles mostly bikes parked at the basement of the commercial complex were gutted due to suspected short circuit in Yelachenahalli on Kanakapura road on Thursday morning.Since it was holiday and no staff was around,no one was injured in the accident .

The fire and emergency control room received the alert at 7.45 am from passers-by who noticed thick smoke engulfing the area followed by fire in the basement of the multi storeyed building .

Two fire tenders along with the rescue teams rushed to the spot and after four hours of operations they brought the fire under control ..

Senior fire officer who visited the spot told reporters that they suspect the fire suspected to have broke out at the charging point due to a short-circuit in the basement of the building which housed an electric vehicle showroom, and spread the area soon..

The Jurisdictional KS Layout police rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed probe.The police are gathering CCTV footage from the building and from the in and around the area to ascertain the cause of fire.

The police are also awaiting the report from the team of electrical inspectorates and the fire and emergency service officials to check if there are no lapses led to the mishap for further investigation.
