Elderly Woman and her minor son electrocuted to death while visiting their ragi field in outskirts area of Tumakuru District

In a freak accident,a 51-year-old woman and her minor grandson died of electrocution when their visited their ragi field in Chottahalli in the outskirts of Kunigal of Tumakuru district on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Latha and her 14-year-old grandson,Mohith.

Senior officer told reporters that,Latha was living with her husband Jagadisha,daughter Roopa,son-in-law, Suresh and only grandchild Mohith .

The Mohith was studying in 8th class and did not go to school on Thursday as he was unwell,Latha as part of her routine visit to her ragi filed accompanied Mohith , who was alone at home .

The duo reached the field and accidentally touched the fence which had came in contact with a snapped electric wire passing by .

The duo soon electrocuted,collapsed and died.

Few passers-by noticed the duo and alerted the family and the police.

The Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies for post-mortem.Villagers vent their ire on BESCOM officials blaming their negligence which led to the death and demanded compensation.

The police have taken up a case of un-natural death and are awaiting post-mortem report to confirm the cause of death and for the further investigation.
