Private School Van Driver from W.B.detained by Bandepalya Police as illegal Bangladeshi immigrant in Bengaluru

The Bandepalya police have detained a 30-year-old private school van driver charging him as illegal immigrant from Bengaldesh and remanded him to detention center .

However his family cried foul and filed a complaint to the styate human rights commission alleging illegal detention and accused police of taken bribe.

The detainee identified Rafikul Biswas,son of Jilani Biswas,resident of Dhananjoypur West Bengal was detained by the police on Thursday .

Rafiqul was living in the city for the last 10 years working as driver for a private school van and living in a rented accommodation with his wife and a child.

The police also allegedly taken Rs.10,000 from his wife for medical and transportation expenses which she managed to arrange and paid .

She gathered all the identity documents such as Voter ID Aadhaar Card,and a clearance certificate from his native police station,but the police officials refused to accept the same terming it as fake .

Upon his wife questioning the unlawful demand,the police sent him to a detention centre Instead of releasing him,despite clear documentary proof of boolian citizenship.

This conduct amounts to serious violation of human rights,abuse of power,and extortion by police authorities.

Such actions not only bring disrepute to the law enforcement machinery but also cause irreparable mental, social, and financial trauma to the victim and his family, the complaint,said .

The police when contacted denied money being taken and added that they had carried the ordered of the Internal Security division (ISD), which is taking action on illegal immigration issue .

As part of the direction the police have done their duty and the family can approach the FRRO and challenge the detention if they have any proof,a senior officer, said.
