Police should prevent atrocities against weaker sections, says CM Siddaramaiah

There is a prevailing caste system in the state effecting the weaker section of the society,the police should consider this very seriously to prevent such incidents, Chief Minister,Siddaramaiah,said here on Saturday.

Addressing the police officers on investiture ceremony while presenting the President’s Distinguished Service Medal,President’s Commendable Service Medal,and the Union Home Minister’s Medal to police officers and personnel at the President’s Medal 2025 held at Raj Bhavan,called upon the police to  ensure protection for weaker sections of society and to take strong measures against atrocities meted out on persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The government has set up DCRE stations at every districts but i have observed that the police stations are not functioning satisfactorily and not up to the mark .

The police must take up such issues seriously to ensure safety and security for the weaker sections.Compared to the other states,Karnataka is lagging behind in terms of conviction rate in the atrocities cases.

Police should focus and ensure justice to the weaker section guaranteed under the constitution.Without going by the number of police personnel it should be how many crimes prevented,he said .

Police should have social commitment and taking preventive and precautionary measures can solve many problems and maintain law and order in the society,he quipped .

Congratulating the awardees,Mr.Siddaramaiah,said that the award which has sentiments of service,humanity and hardworking should be a model for others .

Quoting to Dr.Ambedkar’s advise,Mr.Siddaramaiah said the lives of the weker sections will be hard if powerful people are in power .

Its the bound duty of the police to uphold the constitution to ensure justice and safety and security of the weaker sections.

He called upon the police personnel to introspect and provide better service to the society .
