Bengaluru techies loses Rs.2 crore in investment scam,in two different cases

A 31-year-old software engineer from Whitefield lost his saving of Rs.1.31 crore to the online stock market investment scam.

The victim from Immadihalli,browsing online to check on the stock market investment details when he received a message from unknown number asking him to download an app to investment for a high returns.

Excited victim joined the group and followed their instructions.Initially he invested Rs.50,000 through (INVESTING TO BUY STOCK AND IPO) and found decent profit within hours on June 28,Trusting he invested all his saving totally to Rs.1.31 crore online through RTGS, IMPS and NEFT and tried to withdraw but could not as he was asked to invest more and more money.

He tried to contact the person who advised him to invest initially but unable to reach him.Realising that he has been duped,victim approached the police and filed a complaint on Monday.

Based on the complaint the police have registered a case against Mukesh Kumar Sharma,who advised him to invest charging him under IT Act and also under section 318 ( cheating ) and 319 ( impersonation ) for further investigation.

In a similar incident,36-year-old software engineer from DJ Halli who tried to make extra income through investment was cheated with Rs.91 lakh on Tuesday.

In his complaint to the east division cyber crime police , Ali said that he the fraud started in July 16,when he got a message on his telegram account offering part time or full time job and can earn ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 per day in July 16.

Excited by the offer,Mr.Ali readily agreed and contacted a person identified as Dhanya from Chennai ( Tamilnadu ).Dhanya shared the details and asked him to review the hotels to get a remuneration in the form of commission.

She added him to a whatsapp group where he saw people are investing and getting profit on same day and sharing the screenshot of depositing and withdraw in the group ( telegram ).

While he was contemplating to invest,the accused lured him with an offer of anniversary bonus for a investment of ₹1 lakh with an assured return of ₹ 1.5 lakh.

Ali followed the procedure and found that he had earned ₹ 2 lakh in the app.Excited by the profit he started depositing more and them after that they showed me the profit of Rs.2,00,000/- in the application so I started to deposit more borrowing money from his wife and mother to the tune of ₹ 91 lakh .

The fraud came to light when he tried to withdrawn the amount and failed. After repeated attempts the accused asked him to invest more to get back the money. Realising that he has been duped , Mr. Ali approached the police and filed a complaint on Tuesday.
