Three days after the tragic death of a girl on her way to school with her mother and younger sister was crushed to death by a BMTC bus near Kogilu Cross,Yelahanka, thursday morning,a day before her 11th birthday.
Tanvi Krishna would have turned 11 on Aug 22,a minor boy was crushed by the moving ten wheeler truck in Maruthinagar on Sunday afternoon,leading to snap protest by residents blaming poor infrastructure and rash and negligent driving by heavy vehicles.
The victim, Vijay BS (18), fell off his bicycle after the lorry struck him around 12.30 pm.He came under the front wheels and sustained injuries to his left hand,waist, and leg.
Bystanders rushed him to Sparsh Hospital, Yelahanka, but he succumbed to injuries.
The Yelahanka traffic police arrested the driver, identified as Modeen Miya bin Jaleel Miya, and are investigating further.
The incident occurred at around 12.30 pm when the victim was riding bicycle was run over by the truck in Maruthi Nagar.
The boy was struck in the front wheel was pulled out by passers by and rushed him to hospital in an ambulance where he is being treated at the intensive care unit and later succumbed to his injuries
Residents soon protested alleging poor infrastructure and bad road condition and increasing in traffic volume.
Heavy vehicle pose threat to people especially senior citizens and school going children there are no dividers on many roads and absence of traffic leading to rash driving resulted in such accidents,Muniraju,a local resident,said.
We demand the authorities to ensure road safety and traffic discipline to save lives of people,another resident, added.
