Officials of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation,who analysed the fatal accident where a 11-year-old boy was crushed to death under BMTC near Jamia mosque in KR market,concluded that the driver was not at fault and blamed the scooter rider for the death.
The victim,Shabarish,was travelling with his uncle,Sunil Kumar,when the bus struck their two-wheeler around 5.30 pm.
As Shabarish fell on the left side,the bus ran him over, killing him on the spot.Kumar fell on the right side and suffered minor injuries.
In an official press release issued on Monday, the officials said that they have verified the CCTV footage and found that the couple along with 11-year-old boy were riding the scooter and tried to overtake the bus from lift side.
In the melee,the rider noticed another two wheeler ahead and applied break he lost control and they fell on the road and the boy sitting in the middle rolled under the rare wheels of the moving BMTC and crushed.
The boy was rushed to Victoria hospital where he succumbed .
The Halasurugate traffic police have arrested the driver Santosh and conductor Bhaskar for further investigations .
Senior officials of the BMTC visited the accident spot and conducted probe to announce that the driver was not at fault .
The corporation is conducting training session for the staff to prevent accidents and improve road discipline among the staff .
The session also including counselling to provide necessary assistance to the staff .
The BMTC warned strict action against the staff involved in violations of traffic rules and road accidents.
