“Massive Cleanliness Drive for a Swachha Bengaluru”
*Bengaluru:As per the directive of Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao,a comprehensive cleanliness drive has been initiated across all zones of the BBMP.
The campaign is being effectively implemented in coordination with BSWML,with the objective of maintaining a clean and hygienic urban environment.
Accordingly,today,a large-scale cleanliness operation was carried out in six BBMP zones under the leadership of Zonal Commissioners,Joint Commissioners,and Chief Engineers.
JCBs, tractors,and personnel were deployed for waste clearance and removal of encroachments from footpaths.The details of the activities carried out in these six zones are as follows:
*East Zone:
Zonal Commissioner (East),Snehal and Chief Engineer Suguna visited the sites to inspect and guide officials for effective execution.
Damaged road slabs were replaced,garbage was cleared, and obstructing tree branches on footpaths were removed.
A 4.4 km stretch on both sides of the road from Anepalya Junction on Hosur Main Road to Residency Road was cleaned using JCBs, tractors, and necessary personnel.
In the Sarvagnanagar division,footpath encroachments were cleared in areas such as Kammanahalli Main Road and Subbaiya Palya.The medians along these roads were also cleaned.
*West Zone:
Joint Commissioner,Sangappa inspected the ongoing cleanliness drive in Jagajeevanram Nagar and instructed officials to ensure effective implementation.
Footpath obstructions were cleared on the 2nd and 3rd Cross Roads and Thimmiah Road in Rajajinagar. Additionally,mass cleaning operations were carried out in Industrial Estate (Ward 106), Nandini Layout (Ward 47), and areas under Wards 45 and 65 in the Malleswaram division.
*South Zone:
Massive clean-up operations were conducted in Deepanjali Nagar and Madiwala Market Road under the Vijayanagar division.
Zonal Commissioner (South)Digvijay Bodke and Chief Engineer Basavaraj Kabade visited Madiwala Market Road to oversee the activities.
Pushcarts and name boards obstructing footpaths were removed near Kempambudhi Lake and Jayanagar 9th Block Road.
*Yelahanka Zone:
Cleanup operations were carried out along Thanisandra Main Road, from Ramanashree California Resort to Atturu, as well as Ananthapura Main Road and Jakkur Layout.
Simultaneously,inspections were conducted on commercial establishments violating the COPTA Act and using single-use plastics.
*Rajarajeshwari Nagar Zone:
A massive cleanup drive was undertaken at Kengeri Bus Stand, Mysore Road within the Kengeri division. Additionally, saplings were planted along the footpath near Kengeri Lake.
*Bommanahalli Zone:
In Myco Layout, Begur, a large-scale cleaning drive was carried out to remove waste dumped along the roadside.
Today’s coordinated effort across six BBMP zones focused on both comprehensive cleanliness and the removal of encroachments from footpaths. Similar drives will be undertaken in the remaining two zones as well.
The campaign will continue as a sustained initiative across all eight BBMP zones to ensure a cleaner Bengaluru.
