The Nelamangala police have arrested a gang of five for slaughtering two cows and dumped the bodies on Nelamangala-Aralasandra village Road,Kasaba hobli on last Saturday.
The accused used to sell the beef to neighbouring state including Kerala after buying cattle from Shivajinagar market .
The accused bought the cattle and taken it to the buyer from Kerala who reached Nelamangala to check .
However he rejected two of the cattle considering its physical condition.
Instead of taking it back,the accused slaughters the two cattle and dumped the bodies on roadside and sent the rest of the load with the trader.
The incident came to light when Sharath DN,a police constable and his colleague Hanumantharaya who are on patrolling found the carcass with a throat slit and report the incident to the station.
Based on the complaint,the Nelamangala rural police have registered a case against unknown people charging them under Karnataka Prevention of Cow slaughter and cattle prevention Act and also under Motor vehicle Act on Monday .
The issue was highlighted by a group of cow vigilante and pro-hindu activists and even debated at the session by opposition party.
Taking a serious note,Superintendent of Police,CK Baba formed two special teams who track down the accused live location based on technical evidence and arrested them including the owner of the vehicle .
