Giving utmost priority to ensuring unobstructed pedestrian pathways,continuous encroachment clearance drives will be undertaken across the Rajarajeshwarinagar Zone,stated Zonal Commissioner Dr.Satish B.C.
Encroachment removal operations were conducted along key stretches in the Kengeri Division—from Magadi Main Road to East-West College,1st Stage,BEL Layout — and in the Rajarajeshwarinagar Division—from Gopalan Arch on Mysuru Main Road to 18th Cross,Ideal Homes, Rajarajeshwarinagar.
As per the Commissioner’s directives,various encroachments were cleared from footpaths.These included roadside shop extensions,temporary roofs and staircases,sheds,construction materials,barricades, Nandini booths,advertisement boards,and dumped debris,all of which were removed to facilitate a clear walkway for pedestrians.
*Single-Use Plastic Inspection:
Alongside the footpath clearance drive,inspections were carried out at various shops and commercial establishments to check for the use of banned single-use plastic items.
During the inspections,fines amounting to Rs.64,300 were collected from 37 vendors found violating the rules. They were also issued warnings.
As part of the ongoing pedestrian walkway clearance efforts,similar operations are scheduled for August 14 in the following locations:
*In Kengeri Division:From Krishnapriya Convention Hall to Kia Showroom on Mysuru Road.
*In Rajarajeshwarinagar Division:From Bombay Dyeing Road,Mathikere Main Road to Yeshwanthpur Flower Market (left side).
Encroachers within these areas are hereby informed to voluntarily remove any unauthorized obstructions on the pedestrian pathways.
Failure to do so will result in removal by BBMP,and appropriate legal action will be initiated against the violators, warned the Zonal Commissioner.
The operation was attended by Chief Engineer,Health Officers,Executive Engineers,medical officers,Assistant Executive Engineers,and other officials and staff of the BBMP.
