Pursuing a house break theft in Indiranagar reported in June this year, the Indiranagar police in a hot pursuit, arrested Notorious gangster Bombay Saleem who was escaping in a car in Pune .
The police with the help of technical details identified the Saleem and found that he is fleeing in a car near Pune.
The police with the help of Pune counterparts intercepted the accused and arrested him.
He was brought to the city for investigation and seized his mobile.While checking the mobile phone,the police stumbled upon a photo of Saleem in Police constable uniform and questioned him.
Saleem confessed that he was arrested by Govindapura an year ago in a house break case and taken out of station with police escort for a recovery.
The police constable identified as H R Sonar had stayed with Saleem in a hotel and had gone out leaving his uniform behind.Saleem wore police uniform and made a video call to his wife before taking a selfie .
Taking a strong objections to this,DCP,East,D.Devaraj said that the police constable Sonar has been suspended for dereliction of duty pending Enquiry .
The incident also exposed how police party is lenient towards the habitual offenders and enjoy hospitality and privileges during recovery and other investigations visits .
The accused Mohammed Khaleelullah aka Saleem is a Notorious gangster having over 50 criminal cases pending against him including murder,kidnap and 40 house break thefts .
He entered the crime world at the age of 12 years and had a gang who operate in the south India.Even though he was arrested many times,he used to run his business sitting inside the prison .
In July 2021,the Raids carried by CCB officials at the maximum security Bengaluru central prison of Parappana Agrahara revealed that notorious gangster Bombay Saleem was operating from the prison unabated.
Saleem,who has over 40 criminal cases against him, was arrested by Indiranagar police in 2018 and later by Devanahalli police for allegedly threatening and extorting businessmen in 2020.
He is presently lodged in the central prison.But this did not deter him from carrying out his criminal activities and He was carrying out his extortion racket and robberies,instructing his gang via his mobile phone.
Though Parappana Agrahara central prison claims to have maximum security facilities like multi-layer checks and high tech jammers to block mobile phone usage,
The CCB officials recovered a huge cache of arms, marijuana,mobile phones,and SIM cards from him.
Deepak R,inspector with the Anti-Narcotics wing,who is among the 120 CCB officials conducting raids at the prison,filed a complaint with the Parappana Agrahara police against Saleem.
