Officials of the Central Crime Branch on Monday busted an international illegal telephone racket and arrested two persons who are converting international calls to local using SIM box and mobile app .
The accused identified as Fayaz MA,31,and Mohammed Saffaf,30 from Mallapuram in Kerala were operating the racket from a rented accommodation in Immadhalli and operating for the past six months.
The accused are making crores of rupees through the racket and sharing the money to their handler sitting in gulf through Hawala on monthly basis.
Based on the information from a private service provider and the telecom department,the CCB officials raided the premises and arrested the accused and recovered 703 SIM cards and other equipment used for the racket .
The accused would get the SIM cards from Foreign countries through courier and earn around ₹ five lakh per month illegally .
The police suspect that many more people are involved in the racket and efforts are on to track them down.
The racket is useful for the migrant labourer who work in gulf countries and make calls to their families through this facility in cheaper rates .
This is not only incur huge loss to the service provider and telecom department but also pose threat to the national security .
City police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, appreciating the CCB operation for cracking the case, said that the loss and the crime angle in this racket is being probed in detail .
