The JB Nagar police on Monday registered an FIR against a car driver for running over a stray dog,killing it on the spot on .
Based on the complaint filed by a resident,the police charged the accused under Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Act and Section 325 (Mischief by killing or maiming animal) of the BNS.
The complainant,Abhijith Das,claimed that on August 3, afternoon,the unidentified person driving a car (bearing the number KA03 NS3330)drove over the dog sleeping in front of a bakery at HAL 3rd Stage.The dog was killed immediately.
The police are trying to track down the accused based on the car registration number for further investigation.
