The death of a 46-year-old labourer death in Kadugodi reported on June 26 took a shocking turn after his minor daughter confided in her uncle about suspicious circumstances surrounding her father’s demise.
Her tip-off prompted a police investigation that ultimately led to the cracking of a murder case which was initially dismissed as a natural death .
Based on the complaint filed by Raghavendra,brother of the deceased,the Kadugodi police detained Muniratnamma 40,wife of the deceased Babu and her cousin, Ramamurthy,28,who after a detailed questioning confessed to the crime .
Senior officer said,Babu,a native of Malur was staying in Vajarahalli at a rented accommodation with wife and two minor daughters .
The couple were daily wage labourers and Babu was addicted to Alcohol and used to harass his wife regularly .
Unable to bear his harassment, Muniratanama decided to get ride of him and sought the help of her cousin, Ramamurthy.
As per the plan on July 26,when Babu came home drunk as usual and started harassing Muniratnamma, she along with Ramamurthy attacked him with Machete and rolling pin,killing him on the spot.
They later cooked up a story that Babu died due to accident in an inebriated state,and taken his body in Ambulance to their native and cremated .
Meanwhile the younger daughter when asked by Raghavendra,brother of Babu,narrated the incident on how the duo attacked Babu and killed him.
The duo have been arrested on the charges of murder and recovered the weapons used to kill the accused. The police also taken the elder daughter of the couple and sent her to state home for girls for counselling , while recorded the statement of younger daughter for further investigation.
