Two minor aged 13 and 12 years were killed and their father injured when speeding private carrier knocked the scooter they were riding in Devanahalli on Tuesday.
The deceased Nandan and his sister Dhanushri student of 8th and 7th standards at a government school were returning home after school at around 4.30 pm when the accident occurred .
The duo was not wearing helmet and Muniraju who was working as wall painter went to fetch his children from school after taking a break from work and riding triple to drop them home.
When the scooter reached Sulibele road in Devanahalli , the driver of the tempo traveller in a rash and negligent riding knocked down their scooter.Due to the impact the duo slipped and came under the moving wheels.
Muniraju fell on the right side of the road and sustained minor injuries.Passers-by rushed the children to a near-by hospital where Nandan was declared as brought dead and Dhanushri succumbed later .
Fearing public outrage the tempo driver escaped from the scene and later surrendered before the police.
The Devanahalli traffic police registered a case of hit and run against the driver charging him under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving for further investigation .
