In a freak accident a 40-year-old Police sub Inspector attached to Talaghattapura police station was killed when a speeding truck run over him while he was on the phone standing near the car, which was parked on roadside in Chandapura on Tuesday.
While the two constables accompanied him escaped narrowly while two of the suspects involved in drug peddling escaped taking advantage of the situation.
The injured PSI was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Based on the complaint filed by Tulasidas,Head constable and eye witness to the incident,the Surya Nagar police have registered a case against the truck driver,and two absconding accused identified as Syed Waseem and Ameer,charging them under various sections of Indian Motor Vehicle Act,and also under section 125(a) (acts that endanger life or personal safety of others) 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way) and 132 (assault or criminal force used to deter a public servant from discharging their duty) of BNS for further investigations.
According to the complainant,the incident unfolded when the police based on a tip off caught 19-year-old Faraz Syed Aslam red handed for peddling drugs.
Faraz told the police that he used to source the drugs from Waseem,Azhar and Ameer .
The police inspector alerted PSI Mahboob Guddalli,who along with the team raided a place in Tilak Nagar and caught the trio in a car.
The police handcuffed the accused and sent Syed Azhar and Faraz to the station for further investigation,while Mahboob and two of his staff identified as Sanna Jadeyappa and Tulasidas along with Waseem and Ameer left in the car to track down the other members of the network towards Attibele.
While on the way,a part of the wheel of the car detached and Sana Jadeyappa who was driving the car parked on the roadside and went to check the detached part .
Mahboob Guddalli got down from the car while Tulasidas escorting the two suspects sitting at the backseat of the car.
While Mahaboob was checking the phone standing at the back of the car, a speeding truck crushed into the car.Due to the impact the car moved few meters away and shocked Tulasidas jumped out to check .
Sensing trouble the truck sped away while the Waseem and Ameer taking advantage of the situation escaped leading Tulasidas alone with the injured Mahaboob.
With the help of Sanna Jadeyappa who reached the spot by then,the severely injured Mahaboob was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries .
It has been four days of the incident,the police neither track down the truck nor managed to pin down Waseem and Ameer who were on the run.
The police are also not ruling out the possibility of sabotage and further investigating .
