BWSSB Directed to Expedite Construction of New Drainage System: Snehal

*East Zonal Commissioner Snehal has directed the officials of the BWSSB to undertake immediate construction of a new drainage system on 12th Main Road and Cross Road in HAL 2nd Stage.

The instruction was issued during a public grievance redressal meeting held at the East Zonal Commissioner’s office.

A local resident raised concerns regarding the existing drainage system,which was built nearly 50 years ago and is now in a dilapidated condition.Due to its poor state and frequent blockages,wastewater is overflowing onto the roads,causing inconvenience to the residents.

Responding to this grievance, the Commissioner instructed the BWSSB officials to complete the construction work without delay and warned that a penalty of Rs.1 lakh would be imposed in case of non-compliance.

*Instructions for Proper Solid Waste Management:

Responding to complaints from residents of OMBR Layout regarding improper solid waste management and unauthorized constructions,the Commissioner directed the concerned officials to clean the accumulated waste along the roadside and initiate action to remove unauthorized buildings.

*Orders to Remove Unauthorized Borewells and Ramps:

During the meeting,a complaint was received regarding an unauthorized borewell dug in the middle of the road in HRBR 1st Block and the construction of an illegal ramp by Sairam Apartments,which is obstructing the smooth flow of rainwater.The Commissioner instructed officials to seal the borewell and remove the ramp immediately.

*Directive to Remove Hazardous Dead Trees:

In KSFC Layout, several dry trees were reported to be in a hazardous condition, with branches extending over the roads.

The Commissioner instructed officials to prune the branches and remove the trees where necessary. Instructions were also issued to clear blocked drainage points in various locations and install green nets where required.

*Proper Park Maintenance Ordered:

Responding to concerns over poor maintenance of Coles Park in the Shivajinagar division,the Commissioner directed officials to ensure better upkeep of the park and take necessary safety measures to restrict vehicle entering the park and protect children.

*Prompt Response to Grievances Emphasized:

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of swift response to public grievances during the program. Citizens expressed their gratitude for the initiative and the opportunity to directly interact with civic officials.

*22 Grievances Received:

A total of 22 grievances were received during the public interaction program in East Zone today.The Commissioner instructed officials to resolve all issues within the stipulated timeframe.

*Key Grievances Submitted by Citizens:*

1.Request for installation of streetlights in areas lacking adequate lighting.

2.Appeal to deploy marshals to prevent garbage dumping on roadsides.

3.Request to install additional CCTV cameras in KSFC Layout.

4.Complaint regarding unauthorized construction near Halasuru Someshwara Temple without approved plans, with a request for appropriate action.

5.Appeal to remove obstructions from footpaths to ensure pedestrian safety.

6.Report of blocked drains causing traffic disruptions, with a request for immediate clearing.

7.Request to evict street vendors encroaching on footpaths,which are hindering movement.

Present during the event were Joint Commissioner, Saroja,Deputy Commissioner,Raju,Chief Engineer, Suguna,Health Officer,Bhagya,Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers,DGM,AGM and officials from BESCOM,BWSSB,and other related departments.
