As part of the special drive,officials of the Central Prison on Monday raided central prison of Parappana Agrahara and recovered banned items including tobacco products,knives,and Chillum used for smoking Ganja and cash.
The officials suspect that the accused were running illegal shops at the prison to sell it to the inmates in collusion with the prison staff.
The raid was carried close to the heel of a Psychiatric counsellor was caught red handed smuggling mobile phone in her private part to be handed over to a Under trial.
Based on a tip off,that banned substances are still being used,a team of officials visited the central without informing the prison officials and searched the barracks to seize the items.
Even though the officials did not find any drugs,recovery of chillum was evident that the Ganja is being used in the prison .
During the search the officials,Kasturi Methi,cash Rs. 5,500,10 match Box,3 SK Beedi Packets,4 Ganja Smoking Pipes,2 Nails,3 Sharp Objects,5 Gutkha Packets And 2 Lime Cans at Barrack No. 5/2.
While another team recovered cash Rs.15,680,20 Packets Of Chinese Brand Tobacco,32 Packs Of Cigarettes,25 Small Diaries,One Knife,40 Packets Of SK beedis,200 Jail Canteen Tokens,15 Page Account Slips from the Under trail identified as Mujeeb housed at VIP Security Barrack No.2,Room No.2.
The other recoveries include,1 Trimmer,2 Chargers,2 Scissors,1 Small Iron Rod,2 Knife-Like Sharp Objects,6 Packs Of Sk Beedis,1 Box Of Matches,1 Lighter,1 Chinese Brand Of Tobacco at A block barrack while at Barrack No B1.B2,the officials recovered 6 Knives,1 Water Heater,1 Metal String,2 Black Knife Handles,2 Glue Sticks,3 Scissors,9 ganja Pipes,1 ganja Filler,1 Cloth Filled Chillum.
The officials suspect that the accused were running illegal shops at the prison to sell it to the inmates in collusion with the prison staff.
The CCB officials recovered a book containing the details of sale of goods which is being verified to ascertain the network .
Senior police officials part of the raid said that even though no mobile phones and drugs recovered,it looks like illegal activities continue unabated despite multi level checks at the highly secured Central prison.
