Court grants permission to Darshan for foreign travel

The 57th City Civil and Session court on Friday permitted Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to travel abroad.

The accused who is A2 in the murder of Renukaswamy, a medical store employee from Chitradurga,had sought court permission to relax his bail condition and allowed him to travel to Europe and Dubai for the shooting of the movie,Devil from July 1 to July 25.

The accused also submitted that he is an actor by profession and right to travel is one of the fundamental right guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution as law settled by the Supreme Court of India and cited Satwant Singh Sawhney V/s D.Ramarathnam and Maneka Gandhi V/S Union Of India.

The accused also submitted that the High Court of Karnataka while modifying the order directed him to seek permission from this court whenever he requires to travel abroad for any reason.

He further stated that he has no occupation for his livelihood except his acting.He is alone bread earning member in his family based on his acting.

Considering the plea,the court granted him permission travel for 25 days starting from July 1 with a condition to present before this court after returning from abroad without seeking any exemption.The court has also directed him to submit the itinerary of the travel .

Special Public Prosecutor, P.Prasanna Kumar objecting to the bail,submitted that the reasons cited by the accused is not satisfactory and there is a chance of him absconding if permission is granted.
