In an effort to take the state police towards People’s friendly police initiative more effective,Home Minister,G. Parameshwara announced Mane Mane Ge police , initiative which according to him help in confidence building measures and also to redress the issues amicably .
Speaking to the media after the review meeting with the senior police officials at the city police commissioner’s office on Tuesday,Mr.Parameshwara said that the beat police would visit houses and interact with the people and help to resolve the issues faced by the people .
This initiative will be first of its kind and launched across the state,he said .
This way the perception of the police towards the members of the general public may also change,he added .
He said that along with the senior police officials,had a elaborate discussions of various issues and chalked out measures to contain.
“We are focussing on police presence at the public areas and also enhance interactions with the public to involve them in maintain law and order and fighting crime .
Utilizing the network and the best control system the city the officials should focus on people friendly police approach“.
The police officials have been instructed to visit school and colleges compulsorily to attend the parents teachers meeting .
The police officials present at the meeting should conduct awareness programs about drug menace , traffic violations and other legal aspects.
There are reports about police stations are becoming Khaji Nyaya ( Kongaroo courts ) to settle civil disputes leading to corruption.Strict instructions have been instructed to the police to stay away or face strict action.
Mr.Parameshwara warned the police to stay away from corrupt practices or face stringent action.There is a zero tolerance regarding corruption among the police and will be dealt strictly,he added .
Towing is back:
In order to improve the traffic scene in the city,Mr. Parameshwara said that the department will get back the Towing system but with the revised SOPs.
Referring to the peak hours of traffic,he said that the city has two types of traffic volume which is 8 am to 11 am and the 5 pm to 9 pm traffic.
Among them evening peak hour is more serious in nature and haphazard parking of vehicles on the road will lead to more congestion during this time.
In order to mitigate this it was decided to bring back the towing system with more refind rules.This will be part of other strategies to de-congest the traffic in the city,he added.
A high level meeting has been chaired by Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister along with home and transport minister and the officials of the concerned department to discuss improving the city’s infrastructure .
We are going to fix the responsibility of any bad infrastructure to the engineers concerned and the police are booking cases against them in case of any eventuality.
This will be done strictly and even the senior officials will be included in the case if there any lapses on their part too,he added .
Expressing his commitment against the drug cases,Mr. Parameshwara said that the jurisdictional police officers will be held responsible if there is any drug peddling incidents found .
We are committed to contain the drug menace and ensure that the city should not be place for drugs,he added .
He also reiterated that the focus of the policing should ensure women and children safety.As part of women safety program as many as 9,000 CCTV cameras have ben installed at the strategic locations which are linked to the command centre for round the clock monitoring .
This is in addition to over 1 lakh CCTV cameras for law and order and traffic .
Setting up of safety islands for quick help and covering some of the dark spots of the city are the major focus for the patrolling police to ensure safety of women .
