Three women aged 20 to 25 years drowned in the backwater of a dam in Magadi Taluk on Monday.
The deceased are Madhu,25,Raghavi,22,and Ramya,20. All three were related to each other,were from Electronics City and had visited the house of Divya,sister of Ramya in the YG Gudda village on Sunday.On Monday the family visited the backwater of the dam.
The victims ventured into the water and Ramya,20,went deeper and panicked after her legs stuck in the slit.She shouted for help and fell in the water .
The other two Madhu,25 and Raghavi, 22 rushed to her help the trio drowned.The others also jumped into the water one after another to help. No one knew how to swim.Madhu and Raghavi were college students in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile,Divya’s husband Somashekar, jumped into the water and managed and pull them all one by one.But it was too late .
Passers-by who gathered by then alerted the police who rushed to the spot and them to the hospital where they are declared dead.
The bodies have been shifted for post-mortem and the police have registered a case of un natural death for further investigations.
