The Subramanyapura police have arrested 32-year-old manager of a factory for killing a techie and injuring his friend in a road accident after the duo refused to get him cigarette from a roadside shop on Konanakunte road on last Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay HN,29,and his friend is Chetan Pujamath,30,working in different IT firms and had come for a tea break in the early hours .
The accused Pratheek H,32,who worked as a sales manager at a factory in Magadi Road, booked under murder and attempt to murder.
Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred at around 3.50 am,Sanjay and Pujamath left to have dinner after a late night work from home shift.
They reached the Konanakunte Cross at around 4.10 am on their motorcycle and stopped to drink tea at the roadside tea stall .
Meanwhile Pratheek who was returning home from a birthday party reached the stall and called the duo asking them to fetch cigarettes.
Taking objection to his rude behaviour,the duo refused following which Pratheek got out of his car hurling abuses at them led to heated arguments.
Both the shop keeper and Prakeek’s wife who was in the car intervened and pacified but enraged Pratheek threatened them with dire consequences .
A few moments later,Sanjay rode away on his motorbike while Pujamath was riding pillion.When they attempted a U-turn on Kanakapura main road,Prateek who was waiting for them and driving the car crashed into the bike and sped away .
Due to the impact Pujamath falling on the bonnet of the car and sustaining minor injuries. Meanwhile,Sanjay crashed into the footpath sustained severe head injuries.He was shifted to a near-by hospital where he succumbed few days later .
Lokesh B Jagalasar,Deputy Commissioner of Police (South),said that based on the complaint,the police verified the CCTV footage to confirm his involvement before he was arrested .
