The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB),Bangalore Zonal Unit,has secured the deportation of a prime accused,a resident of Kerala allegedly involved in an international drug smuggling racket busted two years ago.
According to an official release,the matter pertains to the seizure of LSD in commercial quantity from an accused who was found involved in multiple drug trafficking cases.
On July 18,2023,officers of the NCB,Bengaluru Zonal Unit,effected the seizure of 6.624 grams of LSD (400 blots)from a parcel originating from Mexico.
The delivery operation that followed led to interception of two receivers.
One other accused,an associate of both receivers,was however absconding.
Investigation revealed that LSD was being trafficked from foreign country by concealing in books and magazines.
Following a detailed investigation,which included technical and financial analysis,a complaint was filed against the accused under various sections of the NDPS Act,”said the release.
Investigation revealed that the accused was also involved in an NDPS case registered at Madukkarai Police Station,Coimbatore,and was absconding in that case too.
In order to track him down,the NCB officials for issued Red Corner Notice (RCN) against him in January this year .
With close coordination of other Indian and international agencies, the accused was located and detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and deported to India and is currently in NCB custody.
