The Basaveshwaranagar police on Monday arrested a 43-year-old businessman for strangulating his wife over a domestic row at his house on April 25.
The accused Lokesh Kumar Gehlot,owner of a photo studio in Cubbonpet was demanding money from his wife for business development and forced her to get money from her parents and took Rs.60,000 .
Since then the accused used to have fight with his wife Namitha and suspected her.On April 24,he returned home from work and found Namitha talking to her brother over phone.
The accused started pestering her to put it on loud speaker and talk for which she objected.Heated argument ensued between them following which the accused assaulted her and strangled her to death when he fell down.
The accused soon escaped leaving Namitha dead body.
Based on the complaint filed by the owner of the house, the police registered a case of murder and dowry death against the accused and tracked him down on Monday.
