Additional Chief Secretary,Urban Development Department and BBMP Administrator,Tushar Giri Nath instructed the officials to always be prepared during the rainy season in the city.

He was speaking at a meeting with various departments held today in Room No. 317 of Vikasa Soudha on the impending monsoon rains and the need to take preventative steps to avoid potential floods and rain disasters in the city.

*Solve the problem in flood-affected areas:

There are 209 flood-affected areas in the city, and appropriate measures have been taken in 166 locations to ensure that no difficulties occur.

Appropriate measures should be taken in the remaining 43 flood-affected areas to prevent issues,and the senior officers of the zones have been asked to personally visit the flood-affected areas and resolve the issue.

*Create a list of repaired canals:

Metro, K-Ride,KPTCL,and other departments are completing works throughout the city.

A list of repaired canals should be prepared, and a report should be submitted to the respective departments.

The responsible departments were directed to begin the repair work and take the necessary steps to complete it before the rain began.

*Take necessary measures to prevent waterlogging on the roads:

In March,the traffic police department identified 82 waterlogging spots on major roads within the BBMP limits,and a list has been given to the BBMP.

Out of these,the concerned engineers should inspect the spots as per the list given by the traffic police department and clean the side drains by dredging them. He instructed them to take appropriate steps to prevent waterlogging on the roads to control traffic congestion.

*Stay in touch with fire stations:

There are 20 Fire stations and 1 SDRF company in the city,and all fire stations should be active until the rainy season ends.

Zonal Commissioners should always be in touch with the Fire stations coming under their respective zones. He also instructed them to keep a list of officers/staff working in the fire stations with their phone numbers.

*Create a WhatsApp group of officers:

Nine permanent control rooms,including 8 zones and the BBMP head office,and 63 subdivision control rooms will be set up, and officers of the BBMP,BESCOM,and BWSSB should be immediately assigned to all the control rooms.

He instructed them to create WhatsApp group comprising officers of various departments and coordinate through them to respond quickly to the problems caused by rain and solve the problem.

*Annual maintenance of Storm Water Drain (SWD):

The annual maintenance of the 175 km long SWD in the city should be done properly. In addition,a list of works related to major canals in the city should be prepared and given.He instructed them to take appropriate measures to complete the work quickly in all those places.

*Fix potholes quickly:

In accordance with the list of 647 potholes that the city’s traffic police officers provided, 323 potholes have already been fixed.There are now 239 potholes that will be fixed shortly.

According to an official,five roads are beyond the BBMP limits,and 90 potholes would fall under the purview of other departments.

Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao instructed the officers to visit the flood affected areas personally and inspect the areas in the city that experience the most issues during rainy seasons.

Additional Director General of Police,Nanjunda Swamy, Deputy Inspector General of Police,Ravi D Chanannavar, Joint Commissioner of Police,Traffic Division,MN Anucheth,Engineer in Chief,Prahalad,Zonal Chief Engineers,Metro,BESCOM,BWSSB,SDRF,and other department officers were present.
