Following an FIR filed against singer Sonu Nigam,the Avalahalli police on Monday issued notice to appear before them for questioning.
Sonu Nigam has been booked for making objectionable statement during a music concert at an engineering college on April 25,when a group of audience demanded Kannada song .
Sonu Nigam compared the demand to recent Pahalgam attack which did not have any correlation,hurting the sentiments of people of Karnataka,CK Baba, superintendent of police,Bengaluru district,said.
Based on the complainant by pro kannada activist,the Avalahalli police charged Sonu Nigam with section 351 and 352 of BNS .
Considering the gravity of the case,a police inspector has been asked to probe in detail.
The college management has also been summoned for questioning.The CCTV grab of the incident has been obtained and verified as part of the investigation,Mr. Baba,said.
The police are also considering giving do’s and don’ts for such events in future to avoid such controversy.
Kannada language is pride of the people of Karnataka and the matter has been taken very seriously, a police officer, added.
