A 58-year-old businessman was killed and his wife injured when a speeding canter crashed into the car in which they were travelling in Sadarahalli signal on Wednesday morning.
The deceased MN Kumar Babu,resident of Jakkur was heading to a layout in Devanahalli along with his family for a pooja for the newly bought property at a layout .
He was sitting in the backseat of the car along with his wife Varalakshmi while his son was seated in the front.
The car stopped at the signal waiting for their turn,when the speeding goods vehicle lost control and crashed into their car.The vehicle further crashed into six others vehicle before halted .
The other occupants of the vehicle escaped with minor injuries while Kumar Babu sustained severe injuries .
The couple rushed to the hospital where Kumar was declared dead.Varalakshmi is being treated at the hospital and said to be out of danger.
The driver of the vehicle escaped abandoning the vehicle .
The Chikkajala traffic police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic and seized the canter. A case of hit and run has been registered against the driver and investigations are on to track him down.
