Bengaluru ACP,ASI trapped and arrested by Lokayukta officials for accepting Rs.2 lakh bribe to investigate cyber fraud case

The Karnataka Lokayukta Police arrested Tanveer S.R. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP),in-charge of the North East Division Cybercrime Police Station, and Krishnamurthy,Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs.4 lakh and accepting bribe of Rs.2 lakh from the complainant to execute the arrest of an accused.

Senior officer told reporters,ASI Krishnamurthy was trapped and caught near a restaurant in R.T.Nagar when he arrived to receive the bribe amount on Tuesday.

The officials raided the house of ACP Tanveer and later arrested him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to the complaint by Madhusudan,owner of a tech company,the accused had demanded Rs.4 lakh to arrest hackers in a case he had filed.

Madhusudhan had complained that the suspects had hacked into the company’s website and tampered with the data and information.

Even though the complainant gave details of the suspects with evidence,the accused officer did not act on the information and kept it pending,demanding a bribe to arrest the hacker.

Following this,the complainant approached the Lokayukta police and filed a complaint, based on which a team of officials laid a trap and arrested the accused.
