hmedabad:In a significant step towards fostering inter-state collaboration and realizing its vision of a sustainable and spiritually-oriented community,Auroville, the experimental township in Tamilnadu,embarked on a four-day visit to Gujarat from January 3rd to 6th,2025.
The initiative, led by Dr.Jayanti Ravi,Secretary of the Auroville Foundation and Additional Revenue Secretary of Gujarat,aimed to explore avenues for collaboration with the state across various sectors,including education,sustainable development,and technology.
Auroville,founded by the Mother based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, envisions a global township dedicated to human unity and spiritual evolution.
The visit to Gujarat aimed to showcase Auroville’s unique model of sustainable living, emphasizing its focus on environmental stewardship,social harmony, and spiritual growth.
Key Highlights of the Gujarat Visit:
The team presented Auroville’s vision and initiatives to various stakeholders,including government officials, academic institutions, and industry leaders.
Key presentations covered Auroville’s educational philosophy, sustainable architecture, waste management solutions, and innovative approaches to agriculture and healthcare.
MoUs Signed: Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with leading academic institutions, including Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Kamdhenu University, Indus University, Auro University, Sardar Patel University, and the Revenue Department of Gujarat.
These MoUs will facilitate collaborative research, student exchange programs, and the sharing of best practices in areas of mutual interest.
The Auroville team met with the Chief Minister of Gujarat,Bhupendra Patel,the Chief Secretary,Raj Kumar, and the Governor of Gujarat,Acharya Devvrat.
These interactions provided valuable insights and generated significant interest in Auroville’s sustainable development models.
The visit included a visit to Sri Aurobindo’s House in Baroda,offering a deeper understanding of his life and philosophy.
The team also visited the Statue of Unity, a remarkable testament to the nation’s history and a symbol of unity and national pride.
This visit to Gujarat marks a significant milestone in Auroville’s efforts to collaborate with other states and contribute to India’s overall development.
The successful exchange of ideas and the signing of MoUs pave the way for future collaborations and the potential for Auroville’s innovative approaches to be implemented across the country.
