Conman booked by East CEN Police for cheating 71-Year-Old woman posing as representative of internet service provider and made away with Rs.94,000

Posing as customer care representative of internet service provider,conman offered to help a 71-year-old woman and made away with her saving worth Rs.94,000 through online transaction on Monday.

The victim,Geetha Menon,resident of MEG colony on Jeevanahalli road filed a complaint with the East Division cyber crime police seeking to get back her money.

In her complaint,Ms.Menon,said that she was searching for the customer care contact number to fix her internet connection problem.

Few minutes later she received the call from I got a call from a person identified as Rahul Biswas,claiming sort out the issue .

He asked her to open whatsapp and come on video while he managed to download a third party app on her phone due to this complainant mobile screen was visible to him.

The accused asked her to open bank account app which complainant refused following which he disconnected the phone .

Next day when she ordered food on swiggy app and paid through google pay Rahul Biswas who had accessed her mobile phone notifications,noticed the pin number of the GPay and withdraw Rs.94000.

Based on the complaint and the details shared by the complaint,the police officer are trying to track down the accused .

Police have advised people not to share any personal details to the unknown people nor download any links or files they receive from ransom numbers .
