Following a house break theft,the Begur police arrested a 27-year-old BPO employee involved in eight house break thefts in and around the city .
The accused according to the police,identified as Murthy K,resident of Bommanahalli was BCA graduate and working with a private firm.
The accused confessed that he was paid less salary and addicted to online gambling.In order to arrange the money for gambling,he started to steal gold valuables and cash from the locked houses.
Explaining the modus Operandi, Dayananda said that Murthy would go around the area looking for the locked houses and check for the keys which are kept under window sills and shoe racks .
These are the common places where the working couple usually keep.He would gain entry and steal only gold and cash which is easy to carry,Using this MO,the accused had committed six house breaks in and around Begur area and two in Surya city .
The accused was caught following a complaint filed on December 20, the police began to probe and tracked him down with the help of CCTV footage.
Based on his confession the police recovered 261 grams of gold valuables worth Rs.18. 5 lakh.
The accused is not married and living with his mother, who is a single parent, the officer, said.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
