PM Modi: INS Surat, Nilgiri, Waghshir inducted into the Navy.. Modi dedicated them to the nation

PM Modi: Prime Minister Modi dedicated advanced warships, INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and submarine INS Vaghshir to the nation.

Mumbai: Three more warships have joined the Indian Navy’s arsenal. Advanced warships, INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and submarine INS Vaghshir were inducted into the Navy on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai and dedicated the warships to the nation. With their arrival, the strength of the Navy will be further strengthened. This is a big step forward for India’s goal of becoming a leader in arms manufacturing and maritime security.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said , “The services of soldiers in the defense of the country are invaluable. They do not even consider their lives for the security of the country. Today, another step has been taken towards strengthening the Navy. For the first time, we have launched two warships and a submarine at the same time. All these are made in India. With these, the Navy will get new strength and vision,” he explained.

“We are providing more infrastructure for coastal defense. In the last ten years, 33 warships and seven submarines have joined the Navy. We are continuously working to strengthen the defense sector. The value of the country’s defense products has crossed Rs. 1.25 lakh crore. We are exporting our defense equipment to more than 100 countries. We must become a global partner in protecting the coasts from drugs, weapons and terrorism,” the Prime Minister called.

INS Surat.. The fourth warship being developed under the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer project. It is one of the largest and most advanced destroyer warships in the world. The indigenous share in it is 75 percent. This warship has advanced weapon-sensor systems. It has network-centric capabilities.

INS Nilgiri is the first warship in the P17A stealth frigate project. It has been built with stealth technology that will make the enemy look bad. 

INS Waghshir is the sixth and final submarine under the P75 class. It was developed in collaboration with the French Naval Group.
