The government urges individuals involved in Naxal activities to surrender and reintegrate into the mainstream.
Several progressive and public-spirited leaders have met me,emphasizing the importance of Naxals joining the democratic mainstream and expressing concern over preventing any loss of life.
To maintain law and order and ensure peace in Karnataka, the government will not hesitate to take strict measures.
However,if Naxals are willing to engage in dialogue to rejoin the mainstream, the government will welcome such efforts within the legal framework and approach the process with empathy.
Naxal activities in Karnataka have never reached the extreme levels observed in neighboring states.
Nevertheless, sporadic incidents of Naxal activity have been reported in the Malnad region over the past two decades, resulting in violence and loss of life.
This violence has caused the deaths of innocent civilians, police personnel, and individuals involved in Naxal activities.
In a democratic society, idealists who attempt to bring change through armed struggle not only risk their own lives but also endanger others.
While this is a painful reality,a government committed to constitutional governance cannot remain passive.
Our government is determined to encourage all Naxals in Karnataka to surrender completely and reintegrate into the mainstream.
The government has already formulated a surrender policy for Naxals.I assure you that this policy will be simplified and implemented effectively.
Under the surrender policy, financial assistance will be provided in phases.Naxals who surrender their weapons to the government will be eligible for incentives, skill training, and comprehensive rehabilitation measures, all of which will be undertaken with empathy and on a priority basis.
The government will also take steps to expedite the resolution of cases against surrendered Naxals and ensure they receive necessary legal support.
Furthermore, efforts are underway to identify and address the needs of those who have already surrendered, ensuring their successful rehabilitation.
At the same time,I want to make it unequivocally clear that anyone engaging in violent or unlawful activities will face strict legal action from our government.
