Gadag:The construction of the Railway overbridge connecting Gadag and Hombal in Gangapurpet,Gadag city, will be completed within five to six months, according to officials, said former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to the media after inspecting the under-construction Railway overbridge in Gangapurpet on Friday, he said the railway overbridge, which connects Hombal rural areas to Ambedkar Nagar, has been under construction for several years.

Three months ago, during a meeting with officials of the South Western Railway Zone in Hubballi,he had urged them to resume work immediately. They have acted upon it,appointed new contractors, and restarted the project.

“We discussed a few issues regarding the project. A drinking water pipeline spanning 80 meters in Ambedkar Nagar needed to be replaced.

Additionally, the residents of Ambedkar Nagar have requested improvements to the underground drainage system. Since Ambedkar Nagar is a low-income area, I have spoken to Assistant Commissioner Gangappa, who is responsible for the region, and he has assured swift action. Both the pipeline replacement and drainage system work will begin simultaneously”, the MP said.

The former CM said a 42-meter steel bridge will be installed over the railway track, and the work is expected to be completed within 15 days.

The overall project will be finished in five to six months as per the assurance from the officials.Senior officials have shown great interest in the project, and he will continuously monitor its progress. ” I commend the efforts of the railway department officials.”

Senior railway officials were present during the inspection.
