S M Krishna was personally one of the closest leaders to me:Bommai
Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai has expressed profound grief and shock at the demise of SM Krishna,a distinguished and senior statesman from Karnataka.
In a condolence message,he said “SM Krishna,a proud son of Karnataka, belonged to the pre-independence generation and held numerous administrative positions at both the state and national levels.
The passing of Krishna has left the country without a senior leader and mentor. He led a life of utmost integrity and was an ideal role model who was loved across India.
After completing his education abroad,Krishna returned with a socialist mindset, contested elections independently for the first time, and emerged victorious.
He served in all four houses—Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha. He made remarkable contributions as a state minister,Chief Minister,Governor of Maharashtra, and Union Minister, serving both the state and the nation,”said Bommai.
Bommai praised Krishna’s statesmanship, noting that he was a guiding light for politicians and administrators alike.
“His eloquence, measured speech, and demeanor are invaluable lessons for the younger generation of politicians.
He played a pivotal role in Karnataka’s development, especially in the growth of Bengaluru and the IT-BT sectors.
His contributions, such as the successful implementation of the mid-day meal scheme, are extraordinary. Regardless of the position he held,Krishna upheld his dignity and lived a life of self-respect.”
“After joining the BJP,Krishna became a trusted leader for Prime Minister. His passing marks the loss of a significant figure from the previous generation.
His life should serve as an inspiration for the days ahead.Personally,Krishna was one of the closest leaders to me and shared a good bond with my father.
His loss has brought me immense sorrow.I pray to God to grant strength to his family to endure this grief and to give peace to his soul,”Bommai said.
