The Central crime branch officials have registered a case of cheating and forgery against a private educational institute for offering degree certificates for a price of ₹ 2 lakh .
Based on the complaint filed by a city based realtor,the police charged (Mercury Academy Distance education ) the firm situated in Banashankari for further investigation.
The complainant was looking for a distant learning course for his nephew and checked online in October this year .
He called the institute and the person identified as Manish offered him to get any degree without admission or attending classes from any private colleges in and around the city .
Manish even offered to get high school and PU certificates without admission and attending exams.
Initially the complainant was apprehensive but later paid Rs.10,000 as enrolment fee in October this year.Within few days the complainant was given the required certificates .
Worried about the way he is getting certificates from reputed colleges illegally,the complainant approached the police and filed a complaint .
This s not the first time,the CCB is also probing a similar case after a sting operation by a media house where certificates for distance education universities are being sold he added.
